False advertising and poor customer service - Cable and internet service


First, let me say that in the first year I had Brighthouse service, I had to replace the DVR box 6 times. That's every two months like clockwork, and it meant taking time off of work to wait for someone who may or may not show up on the correct day at the correct time. In addition, whenever there is a problem (and there are many) it takes a minimum of three phone calls to get the situation resolved.

In January, I upgraded to HDTV service. When I called to set-up the appointment, I asked the rep specifically if the HD cables were provided or if I needed to get my own. She told me the cables were provided. The tech showed up for the appointment the day before it was scheduled, before the tv had even been delivered, and then got visibly mad at me because he was wrong. After THREE phone calls, I finally got them to agree to send another tech for the day that I had scheduled to begin with. This tech showed up two hours late and had no cables, forcing me to make several more phone calls and take another day off of work for another appointment. He told me that Brighthoue does not supply the cables and that I had to go buy my own, which I did, for $130. When the new service was FINALLY hooked up, I went to the brighthouse website to print out a list of HD channels, and clear as day, it says that Brighthouse provides the cables.

I called (three times) to complain, and got this response: "We only provide them if the tech happens to have them." I explained, countless times, that their own website says that they provide them. No one at their "customer service" offices seem to understand the meaning of false advertising. Nor do they understand the meaning of customer service.

Thank goodness there is more than one cable provider is this area. Adios BrightHouse!
